 It is very alarming to see a rise in incidents of violence in education, i.e. ragging. It stirs the soul to read and hear about the incidents involving life and health of students, who are victims of none else other than their seniors. The violence being perpetrated in educational institutions takes form of serious human rights abuse and various crimes codified in the criminal law of our land, i.e. the Indian Penal Code. I often think, which direction is this generation heading to? We are privileged to be born on the land where the great leader Mahatma Gandhi who preached non-violence took birth. His views on non-violence are respected the world over, but for his own country. It is very unfortunate to see the young generation taking recourse to violence for fun at a land where diverse religions preach non-violence.

This concern and the need to bring about a change in the present situation motivated me to join SAVE. SAVE has provided me with a platform to interact with the students, academicians, heads of institutions and the society at large to eliminate ragging.
