On the International Day for the Right to the Truth (24th March), the Society Against Violence in Education (SAVE), India’s largest Anti Ragging NGO released its latest report — ‘State of Ragging in India 2022-24’ — revealing alarming trends and highlighting key institutions with the highest number of ragging complaints.
Based on data from 3,156 complaints registered with the National Anti-Ragging Helpline, apart from mentioning the colleges and universities having the most number of ragging cases, the report also highlights that medical colleges are a particular area of concern, accounting for 38.6% of total complaints, 35.4% of serious complaints, and 45.1% of ragging-related deaths over the past three years. The data also reveals that 51 lives were lost to ragging during this period, nearly matching the 57 student suicides reported in Kota.
