On 29 August 2024, we at the Institute of Leather Technology, Kolkata, hosted a highly successful awareness program focusing on the critical issue of ragging in educational institutions. The event featured Dr. Ankit Saha, a renowned expert in student welfare and anti-ragging measures, as the keynote speaker.

Highlights of the Program

Debate Program: We organized a spirited debate program, providing a platform for students to discuss various aspects of ragging, its impact, and the measures to combat it. The debate encouraged students to voice their opinions, share experiences, and understand the legal and social consequences of ragging.

Awareness Session: Dr. Ankit Saha conducted an insightful session aimed at educating us about ragging, its adverse effects, and the importance of maintaining a ragging-free campus. He emphasized the psychological and physical harm caused by ragging and highlighted the responsibility of each student to ensure a safe and respectful environment.

Anti-Ragging Helpline: The program also included a detailed briefing on the Anti-Ragging Helpline. We were informed about how to seek help if we or anyone we know faces ragging. Dr. Saha provided the helpline numbers and explained the steps to report incidents confidentially and effectively.
